Unit one reflection

Unit One Reflection :) Throughout Unit 1, my research focused on the relationship between writing and technology and how both things have their issues, but also massive pros. At first, the pencil shop article by Molly Young introduced the idea that even in a digital world, people still value traditional writing tools. The store represented more than just pencils — it symbolized nostalgia and a turn from screen-based culture. This made me start thinking, "Who would go to a pencil store?" and to be hoenest maybe I wuld depeding on the interest. which is a whole other conversation!  From there, my second source, the Pew Research article, helped me understand how deeply technology is embedded in teenagers’ daily lives. The statistics about social media usage showed that most modern communication, as well as new forms of addiction, now happens online. This really helped me wrap my head around the severity of this bigger issue of addiction as a generation. The fact that 15% of pe...

The New York Times (2015)     This article discusses the cultural significance a simple pencil can have through the opening of a small store called CW Pencil Enterprise in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. The author, Molly Young, visits the shop and describes it in detail, noting that it sells only pencils (A few notebooks) from places such as Japan, Germany, France, the Czech Republic, and Tennessee. The store is presented as tiny, colorful, and aesthetically pleasing, with a checkered floor and knowledgeable staff who treat pencils as specialized, meaningful tools for all different sorts of things. But not just any pencils, these are all different types of pencils from all over the world, including Japan, Germany, France, the Czech Republic, and Tennessee.   The author is highlighting the fact that a lot of people find value in stable, good old-fashioned pencils. Especially nowadays, with the rise in iPads and computers, People rarely type anymore. It's also interesting to note that the atmosphere of the shop was also heavily discussed. Including the checkered floor and the bright colors of the tiny store, as well as the nice, knowledgeable women who worked there.    The audience for th...

Surveys/Polls/Quizzes

For this blog post, I decided to do a BuzzFeed quiz on                                 "  "Which Devil Wears Prada Character are you?"                 It was about 10 questions, and by the end, I got Andy Sachs! As much as I love Andy, I'm not sure we are exactly the same vibe.         I had two of my other friends take this test, and I was a little disappointed to find out that they also got Andy, even though they answered differently from me. It was interesting to see that most people in the comments were also getting Andy Sachs. I personally answered in a way that leaned more toward Miranda or Emily—saying I was very interested in fashion and that I do care about my appearance, which is not at the core of w...

It’s quick, fresh, and always hits the spot.   This salad from Strong Hearts features spinach, strawberries, almonds, lemon, and savory vegan bacon bits. So bomb! Such a light fresh lunch to keep me full and ready for my afternoon classes at the stage!             In the afternoon, my friends and I went to Starbucks, and I got a latte. It was so fun, and we...
